Skype was down for about 2 days last week which was particularly unnerving for since I use it everyday. If you haven't heard of Skype, click here to download it - it's free. If you don't know already, Skype is just like AOL Instant Messenger, but better. Unlike AIM, Skype allows your computer to make direct outside calls to anyone in the US and Canada for free. International calls are dirt cheap. Using my Logitech USB headset, I hardly ever use my hand held phone anymore. Skype works on Mac and PC both equally well. Give it a try!
